The Council members have elected the current Vice-Chair of the National Electronic Mass Media Council (NEPLP), Dr.sc.comm. Aurēlija Ieva Druviete, as Chair of the NEPLP. In turn, Council member Ieva Kalderauska was elected as Vice-Chair of the NEPLP. Decisions were made by a majority vote.
“I accept the duties of Chair of the NEPLP with a sense of responsibility to continue the Council’s work strategically. In the current geopolitical situation, the security of the information space is and will continue to be one of the NEPLP’s central strategic priorities. At the same time, we will continue to strengthen a high-quality and diverse media environment in Latvia, promote media literacy, foster the quality of the Latvian language, implement international cooperation, and contribute to the overall development of the electronic mass media environment. I highly value the NEPLP’s professional team, with whom we will continue working in the interests of Latvian society and national security!” explains NEPLP Chair Aurēlija Ieva Druviete.
“In taking on these new duties, I will continue to carry out the responsibilities entrusted to me with full commitment. Given the development of the electronic mass media sector, the scope of the NEPLP’s work has also expanded, but it is necessary to continue the work already begun to ensure a safe and competitive environment, as well as access for the public to high-quality and reliable television, radio, and on-demand audiovisual services,” says NEPLP Vice-Chair Ieva Kalderauska.
